MACKENZIE PROJECT

We were tasked with creating a separate in-law’s suite in this basement without it being totally closed to the rest of the home, and we’re happy with how we achieved this goal! We used modern black slider doors to create a sense of privacy in this “home within the home”. We separated the suite into distinct zones – a kitchenette with the essentials: a fridge, sink and microwave; a little sitting and TV area; a bedroom with a murphy bed that can be extended for sleeping and put away when not needed; and a beautiful bathroom. We also upgraded the laundry room to be highly functional by adding ample storage (& we love that little sink!). The result: a welcoming and stylish suite for in-laws, returning children, or overnight/weekend guests to call their own.
